Item Description
You are bidding on a Model 1885 Single Shot Winchester made in 1888. This rifle is chambered for 38 WCF with a 28 inch number 1 barrel. Of the 139,000, 1885's manufactured, 25% had a number 1 barrel, the bulk being used on the Low Wall version with a 26 inch barrel. This being a Highwall with a 28 inch number 1 barrel makes it unique. This is the correct configuration for this rifle according to The Cody Museum in Wyoming. The barrel has been lightly refinished sometime in it's 119 year life, markings are still visible. The bore is still shootable, but dark. There are two hairline cracks on the forearm which have no effect on the rifle. It also has the ebony wedge. The stock has some less than normal wear, with no splits or cracks. There are traces of case hardening on the receiver. There is no evident rust or pitting on the rifle. Action works flawlessly. S/H for this rifle will be $25.00 to the United States only. Insurance will also be added at buyers request. No FFL required . More photos sent upon request. Ask questions prior to bidding. This is a no reserve auction. Thanks for looking and Good Luck.
